  • International competitors can collect their race pack and number at the information desk at bike drops.

Event kit

Event Kit

This is an adventure race. You must have the mandatory kit with you on race day. You will not be allowed to start without it.

Mandatory kit
  • Survival blanket and whistle
  • Windproof and waterproof top
  • Bike (road or hybrid) and cycle helmet
  • Spare tube or puncture repair kit
  • Water bottle for refilling at water stations
Recommended kit
  • Suitable cycling shoes and gloves
  • Sturdy trail running shoes
  • Waterproof leggings
  • Course map
  • Energy food and drink

Please note: bikes are not provided and aerobars are not allowed.

Bike Drop & Transition

Bike Drop & Transition

Both races use secure bike drop and transition areas, with event staff overseeing the zones during official drop times and overnight security.

  • GAELFORCE WESTPORT 34KM: bike drop is at Westport Skate Park, available Friday evening and again on race morning.
  • GAELFORCE WEST 68KM: bike drop options are available in Westport and at Killary Adventure Centre on Friday evening.

Please ensure your bike is in good working order, clearly labelled, and ready to race when dropped.

Parking & facilities

Parking & facilities

Westport has plenty of parking available on race day, and key race locations are within easy reach of the town.

Toilets and water points are available at main race areas, and the finish line has food, drinks and a great atmosphere waiting for you.

Safety

  • Fully marked course with marshals positioned along the route
  • First aid points and a medical team on standby on event day
  • Clear signage and a safety briefing before your start
  • This is an adventure race in a natural environment and some sections can be challenging. Competitors must take personal responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others
