Welcome to the Gaelforce River Fest, a celebration of open-water swimming in Ireland's Hidden Heartlands!
This 16th and 17th of May, we're gathering on the scenic banks of the River Shannon in Lanesborough for a festival of excitement, family activities, and memorable experiences.
Whether you're an avid swimmer or just after a grand day out, the Gaelforce River Fest offers something for everyone.
Schedule of Events
Friday - 16 May
Evening Activities:
- Evening Kayaking: Set off from the docks for an evening kayaking experience along the calm waters of the River Shannon with Inventure Watersports.
- Time slots are 6:30pm or 7:30pm, with a maximum of 20 people per hour for a session for a small fee of €10.00 per person.

- Sauna Sessions: Relax and unwind in the warmth of the wood-fired barrel sauna on the banks of Lough Ree with Riverside Sauna.
- Time slots are from 6:30pm to 9pm at €10.00 per person for a 30min slot.

Saturday - 17 May
Gaelforce Great River Swim: The main event! Kicking off at 8 AM when the first wave of swimmers take to the water.
Throughout the day:
- Food Trucks: Savour tasty dishes from a variety of local food trucks like
- Artisan Stalls: Explore and purchase unique crafts and products from local artisans.
- Kid's fun area: with obstacles, challenges and face painting, all proceeds going to the Tidy Town's initiative.
- Kids climbing wall & trampoline
- Live Music: Live traditional music during the event by the Amazing Apples!
- Sauna Sessions: Available for the day with Riverside Sauna.
- Time slots available from 10:30am to 4pm at €10.00 per person for a 30min slot.

Evening Festivities:
- Head over to Clarke's Bar & Lounge, Lanesborough, for the evening entertainment & food.
- 8 pm Mouthwatering BBQ for just €8.00 per person.
- 7 to 10 pm live music & disco.
