To win an overall or category prize, you must sign up for and compete in Wav e1. Or be in the first start with Wave 1 on the day of the event.
Overall Distance Winners
Winners of the Gaelforce Great River are determined by the first, second or third over the finish line regardless of their age category and will not qualify for any additional placement prizes:
- 1st male and female will receive a prize & free entry into next year's event.
- 2nd & 3rd overall male and female
Category Winners
If the category winner is placed in the overall race, they are no longer eligible to win a category prize.
Winners of the following category are determined by the first non-wetsuit male & female over the finish line - unless they are placed first overall then this prize will go to the second non-wetsuit male or female across the line - regardless of their age category and will not qualify for any additional placement prizes:
- Male and female 1st non-wetsuit swimmer
Winners of the following categories will receive a prize based on their age on the day of the event:
- Male and female Juniors (under 18)
- Male and female Vets (over 40)
- Male and female Super Vets (over 50)
