The route

Stage 1: Belmont Demesne, purpose-built trail, heather paths

Start at the historic Belmont Estate and head up towards the back of little Sugar Loaf mountain - a climb of about 180 metres over 2km. Enjoy the stunning and dramatic views across the Wicklow hills and out to the Irish Sea.

Stage 2: Trail

Start your descent and wind your way back through heather paths, trails and ancient woodland to return to Belmont Demesne and cross the finish line.

Route Terrain

The route varies from sealed roads, wet bog, forest trails and gravel paths. Expect the unexpected!

Bring your crew along!

The start and finish line are located at Belmont Demesne. There are excellent facilities here – ample car parking, a café, fabulous grounds and lots for spectators to do while they wait for you to cross the finish line.

It’s an afternoon event, so no early starts required. All in all, a great summer day out for everyone!

Gaelforce 10K Bray and the "big bad wolf"

This year, the wolf will be the symbol for Gaelforce 10K Bray to celebrate our collaboration with Wild Ireland. The story of the “big bad wolf” couldn’t be further from the truth. Wolves are gentle creatures that avoid humans in the wild. They were once common in Ireland, so much so that the country was called "Wolf Land" and they were known in Irish as Mac Tíre, meaning "son of the land." Sadly, this respect ended with Oliver Cromwell, who put a price on their heads, leading to their extinction within a few decades.

Today, Wild Ireland in Donegal provides a safe, natural habitat where wolves live in family packs. Visit the sanctuary to see their amazing work. Donations are always welcome to help keep it going!
