It has always been important for us to team up with local Connemara businesses. We love showing off what Galway has to offer on the wild west and what makes this place special.
That is why we are delighted to have Micil Distillery alongside us for the whole Swim Trilogy this year. From the River Shannon to Lough Derg and now to Killary Fjord, they have been right there at the finish line with a well earned drink and plenty of good humour. The graft in the water counts, but it is the craic on the shore that you will remember.
Partnership in the Water
This year Micil are not just serving from the shore, they are diving in as well. Jessica from Micil and Áine from Gaelforce are both tackling the swim for the first time. Is it a show of partnership or a bit of friendly rivalry? We will let you decide. Either way, they will be side by side in the fjord, earning their sip just like the rest of us.
The Buzz at the Finish
On the shores of the Killary Fjord finishline, you will be met with a steaming cup of Micil Long Walk hot whiskey. It is the perfect way to bring the heat back after the fjord has done its job. And if you are fast enough to make the podium, you might even be taking a bottle home with you, as Micil are prize sponsors this year.
But it is not just about the whiskey. Having Micil at each swim has brought an extra buzz to the Trilogy this year. From the welcome at the shore and sharing the experience with your mates, there has been a real sense of everyone, swimmers and supporters alike, being in it together.
Adding to the atmosphere, Amazing Apples, another Galway crew, have kept the energy high with live music at all three events. Crossing the line to cheers, tunes and a hot drop in your hand is what makes the Trilogy unforgettable.
