The Gaelforce Mountain Run takes place over unmarked routes in the northern Maamturk mountains in wildest Connemara. This is a unique opportunity to access this stunning route with special permission being granted for the event by local landowners. This challenging course features steep ascents and descents with 22km and 12km options suitable for experienced mountain runners only. New for 2016 is an Introductory 12km mountain run for those of reasonable fitness who want to get started at mountain running.
The Bray 10km Cliff Run takes competitors from Greystones to Bray in Co Wicklow on a spring evening with stunning views over Dublin Bay. This is no ordinary trail run and the varied terrain of cliff paths, beach and promenade will keep you challenged. Finish the evening with the free event after-party with live music, food and dancing!
Moonlit cycle through the deep valleys and the peace of night-time Connemara. This is a unique event where you will get to experience this magnificent area where light pollution does not exist! Let the stars guide you and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow cyclists. Choose from two distances - 100km or 68km. Refreshment stops will be provided along the way. This is not a race but a journey and one we think you will never forget.
32.5km stand-alone sprint race through the magnificent scenery around Killary Harbour in Connemara, Co Galway. This race involves trail running, cycling and kayaking and is a perfect introductory race for those new to adventure racing or a training race for the more elite athlete. It is followed by a free after-event party so why not come and make a weekend of it! New for 2016 is the Adventure Duathlon, allowing competitors the chance to stay on dry land and opt out of the kayak section of the course.
This is still the original and the most unique adventure race in Ireland. A 67km linear course starting at dawn on Glassilaun beach in Connemara and ending in Westport town - this is a personal journey which will see you crossing the line triumphant and with a huge sense of achievement. Cycling, running on trails, kayaking across Killary Fjord and climbing Croagh Patrick are all part of this incredible journey.
The first ever women-only adventure race in Ireland and at 27km it is the perfect distance for those new to the sport and a great training race for the more experienced athlete. The Galway event takes place around Killary Fjord at Leenane, Co Galway and includes cycling, running/walking and kayaking. The terrain includes trails, forestry tracks, bogland, roads and the deep green waters of the fjord. New for 2016 is the Adventure Duathlon - same stunning course just without the kayak section.
Following on from the success of Ireland's first women-only adventure race, a second race now takes place in Roundwood, Co Wicklow at the close of the summer. Another stunning location with a slightly shorter course of 24.5km, this race has been a huge success since its first year in 2014. Come and join hundreds of fit, healthy, determined women and achieve something amazing for yourself this year. New for 2016 is the Adventure Duathlon - same stunning course just without the kayak section.
WE ARE NORMALLY KNOWN FOR ORGANISING ADVENTURE RACES BUT THIS IS A REGULAR TRIATHLON! Take the chance to explore the wild and beautiful scenery of Connemara choosing from Olympic and Sprint distances. Swim in the fresh, clean waters of Killary Fjord in the shadow of Connaught's highest mountain Mweelrea. After that your cycle will bring you through deep valleys and along the rugged coastline and back to the picturesque village of Leenane. The final section of the course will again see you surrounded by mountains before you emerge to run cross the finish line.
With full (64km) and sprint (45km) versions this event provides a great personal challenge for all adventure racers. Gaelforce North takes competitors through some of the wildest and most remote parts of Donegal including Glenveagh National Park, Mount Errigal and finishes in the Gaeltacht village of Bunbeg. The disciplines involved are running/hill walking, cycling and kayaking and the terrain is varied throughout. New for 2016 are the full and sprint course Adventure Duathlons - same magnificent courses just without the kayak section.
Open water swimming event which takes place in the deep green waters of Killary Fjord surrounded by the mountains of Mayo and Connemara. There are 3 distances to choose from - 3.9km, 2km and 750m event to suit all those from the experienced swimmer to those new to open water swimming. The Great Fjord Swim is a unique event with swimmers in the 2km and 750m swims being brought out into the fjord by boat and jumping off to reach the start line!
A 10 km challenge that will test your stamina, nerve and camaraderie. Turf Warrior is the obstacle course challenge that is packed full of adventure, mud, climbing, swinging, leaps into the Atlantic and all kinds of other mayhem and madness. Free entry afterwards to the themed party at Killary Adventure Company is included for all warriors so come and make a weekend out of it!
